Yá’át’ééh, I am Missy
I was born and raised on the Navajo Nation, where I currently use my social work skills to support school-age kids on their wellness journeying. Together, we slay monsters. Through Navajo storytelling, I became familiar with the “Monster Slayer,” a deity who slayed worldly monsters – poverty, addiction, mental illness, inequality, injustice, and other atrocities. The monsters he slayed continue to ravage our human and non-human relatives today. It’s because of this reality that I commit myself to the work of wellness. This online space is a one-stop hub for all things I find important: sharing wellness thoughts & ideas, running, social justice, and a project where I am taking action to support the basic needs of reservation-based children. Ahéhee’ for visiting my hub, and feel free to return for updates.
